This is to the people who know something about Japan. Whats up with Kancho?
Kinda weird but in ancient Japanese myth, that is the way demons would fight each other. It is rather painful of done correctly. Since demons could not in theory kill each other, they would inflict as much pain on each other as possible. Similar to things like the "titty-twister". They really serve no purpose, but that is where it originated.
This is to the people who know something about Japan. Whats up with Kancho?
Do you mean Kanchou 'the government office', or Kanchou the 'enema? Or Kanchou 'the superintendent of a museum or library'? Or Kanto the area around Tokyo? Or Kanchou 'the captain of a battleship'? Or Kanchou 'low tide'? Or Kanchou 'a spy'?

Personally I hope you mean the enema - it's more amusing! ;-D

?Do you mean~ Kancho "The dreaded Japanese butt poke"?
"Kancho (カンチョー, kanchō?) is a game or trick often played in Japan by young school-aged children; it is performed by clasping the hands together so the index fingers are pointing out and attempting to insert them into someone's anal region when the victim is not looking. It is similar in spirit to the wedgie or a goosing in North America."

Or another "Kancho"?
If it's this one, I have no idea WHY anyone would want to do this or enjoy doing this. I've been in Japan 8 years and still find it strange when I see kids doing this. But I'm an American and that's just my opinion.?

Nyepi day is one of Hindu's ritual. on that day you may not go anywhere, and on that day there will be no light, no fire, no noise, because on that day the Hindu's will pray all day to God. If you are in Bali on Nyepi day you can take a rest in your hotel the whole day. It's fun to understand other people culture and religion

The travel distance from Detroit Metro Airport to Tokyo Japan?
Seriously, the distance is approximately 6700 miles. It varies depending on the route the pilots decide to use. Heading eastward with the help of the jetstream, it should take 10-11 hours, the other way about 12-14 hours. Bring an mp3 player to keep from going insane inside that cabin.

The most beautiful places in Japan?

What are the five places you would recommend going to in Japan? (preferably near Osaka, Kyoto or Tokyo).

I love natural scenery and my girlfriend loves romantic places. The answer with the most places that we end up booking will get 10 points. Thanks. (BTW, I'm going in May. so Cherry Blossom and any winter activities are probably unlikely)
The most beautiful places in Japan?
Mt. Fuji's the obvious one. Other than that I would recommend (in and around Kyoto):

The Philosopher's Path - gorgeous walking path in Kyoto

    Kinkakuji - Golden Pavilion

Ginkakuji - Silver Pavilion (I preferred it to the gold one)

The Ise Shrine - Not too far from Kyoto, and absolutely beautiful scenery

Nara - Full of friendly (a little too friendly) deer, the Daibutsu (huge Buddha Statue) and various temples. Short train ride from Kyoto
The most beautiful places in Japan?
The baseball stadium used during the WBC.
    Japan won the tournament.
you might want to go there to see what went down.

    the whorehouses
On top of what the others have already said. Osaka Castle is lovely during cherry blossom time - get there early to stake out a good picnic spot. Arashiyama is near Kyoto and absolutely gorgeous.
Go to Nara. It is just a bit south of Kyoto and Osaka. Its got culture, trees, mountains and deer running wild. It is the ancient capital.

If you make it to Hiroshima, also hit Miyajima Island. It is just off the coast. Wow!
    must go hokaido....

The cheapest way to travel to Kyoto?

My family and I live in Tokyo now. We want to visit Kyoto in Spring Time. I wonder if there is any cheap, safe hotel for a family of 3? With so many shrines to see, which one(s) that you shouldn't miss? Other attractions? How much money should we take for 3-4 days traveling? Thanks!

There are many places of different types to stay. Try http://www2.tocoo.jp/english/ for some really great deals. Have fun!
The cheapest way to travel to Kyoto?
Take the shikansen to shin-kyoto station. From there get on the KEIHAN line and get off at SHINJO station. You are right around GINZA. Around here are tons of shines and temples side by side. From the main road is YASAKA JINJA - walk through here and verge right and up some streets and you will get to KYOMIZU DERA. If you have any problems just ask and they will point you in the right direction. To the left of YASAKA JINJA is CHIONIN which is good as well.

Also on the KEIHAN line is FUSHIMI INARI which is very cool and doesn't get a lot of people. They have TORII one after another and you walk under them like a tunnel!

the cheapest flight to fly from montreal canada to manila in the philippines?
There is not just one "cheapest flight" flying anywhere!

The "cheapest" flight depends on what day and time you will be traveling. The price varies as there are many fare catagories for each flight. Once all the cheap seats are purchased, then all that is left are the pricier ones.

Who will have the cheapest seats left unsold for your travel date when you call is a crap shoot. You can only compare all airlines on a given route between your cities on a given day. The cheapest airline flight on a certain date may not be on another.

I'm Thai and luckily there're thai font on my keyboard. The only problem is I'm not sure exactly how to pronounce the name. But it's worth trying.

If your son's name pronounced like: Ro-ree James Flin
then the Thai script would be:

    ???? ????? ????

I hope the script shown right, it's kinda small..
    but yeah.. better than nothing!

hope the tattoo turns out great!
Thai translation. I would like my sons name translated to Thai script fpr a tatoo.?
    i dunno
    i dunno
I am assuming that you want your sons name written in Thai - well - after wondering why, I would ask several different thai people to transliterate it for you as you are working in a different alphabet with different sounds, there is no for sure, correct answer.. They do not leally have an "R" sound - the usual transliteration is Lor leua.. which is a slightly rolled r or l - it is an attractive looking letter.. good luck -
I'm Thai-literate, and I just wanted to verify the above Thai transliteration. I give it a thumbs up. Although, you might want a second "N" with a ga-ran (silence marker) over it when spelling "Flynn."

Why Semporna? Ok, Semporna is located at the east coast of Sabah. People only go to Semporna because of Scuba Diving (Sipadan Island), Seafood is good and cheap, people are friendly. Not much entertainment around but few local bars are available in town. Dont expect 5 STAR hotels, few budget one can be found in town. AS mentioned, normally people go to Semporna as is a transit point to Sipadan Island

    Teaching/Tutoring English to Korean students..?

I'm Korean-American and 17 years old. I'm a junior in high school, and during the summer of my junior to senior year, I would like to teach English to South Korean students during the summer. Has anyone done anything like this? I would like to know how this could be done. I have family I could stay with and I have conversational Korean skills. Please help!
    Teaching/Tutoring English to Korean students..?
I lived in Seoul for 2 years and taught conversational English to Korean students. It was a lot of fun. In order to teach at a language institute, you need a college degree (of any sort) but there are a lot of people who will pay large amounts of money to receive private tutoring. If you want to spend a summer in Korea tutoring, I'm sure you could cover the cost of your plane ticket and lodging. If you mean that you would like to tutor Korean students in the states, try contacting Korean churches or Korean stores and putting up ads for private tutoring.
    Teaching/Tutoring English to Korean students..?
post posters around your school, or colleges that you could tutor korean, with your phone number
post posters around your school, or colleges that you could tutor korean, with your phone number
You may ask friends who have tried teaching Koreans. They may know some Koreans who are in need of tutors. That's what I did. You can have a Korean student through connections.
I know many ex-pats teach a beginning English class at the Lotte/64 Building. Not much pay, but very easy work. Also the Seoul Foreign School and British School Seoul may have some summer jobs about. Good luck.
Send an email to Parkyh@yahoo.kr.com and ask him to have his wife, who is canadian to email you. She teaches english to Korean kids in Kunsan.

    Stop child abuses?

Philippines: Horrific violations of children's rights must stop
An Amnesty International report published today (11 April) exposes horrific abuses of children in the Filipino juvenile justice system, where at least eight young people, who were under age at the time of their alleged offence, are currently on death row.

Do you agree or disagree with what is going on under our own noses
    Stop child abuses?
what were the crimes? like did the rape murder a child?? need more facts, sometime people in this country get away with murder but can be sued from the family in civil court and lose to the family like hum o j give more facts before judge others, or people will think us americans are in the worlds watchdogs when we cant watch our own back yards
    Stop child abuses?
Alas, it's not under my nose.
Alas, it's not under my nose.
All children should be treated as such, the punishment is wrong. I really do not care what it is about there is another way to deal with kids, and it is in many other countries. And to tell the truth, the U.S. is not much better, they go to prison young and come out messed up --
it's nasty. why on earth would people even do something like that!!
there are a lot of things that happen that many of us either take for granted or do not get to know.
did you know that there are firecrackers you buy from bulacan which are made by children? this is a violation of the rights of children. child-work is allowed but not for long hours and not in hazardous environments as pyrotechnics factories.
however, sometimes, it should be the parents who should also be punished for irresponsibility. moreover, there are some news that are written to benefit some people, especially if you need aid.
in any case, the rights of the child should be respected.

  • Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza?

Which entertainment area is better? Can anyone recommend any of the bars there or any too avoid?
Im gonna avoid the Pong as have read overpriced and good chance of being ripped of!
    Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza?
    Soi Cowboy, without a doubt.

Its a nice compact short street, everything is street level, and it is without the gawping tourists that are in the Pong. Its easy to get to, within sight of Sukhumvit Skytrain/Metro station. (Tho' be warned they close around midnight but there are plenty of tuk-tuks and taxis waiting. Laugh at the first price they offer and negotiate.)

Try the Rawhide Bar for some really energetic sexy dancing show, and the small Tony's Bar for a quiet drink and pleasant company.

This site http://www.bangkokbob.net/cowboy.htm has a map of the street with links to the various bars. Its a little out of date -- but hey - bars change so fast there all that matters is you get there.

BTW - the Fish'n'Chip restuarant around the corner in Soi 23 is pretty darn good.

You don't need my wishes to have fun and sanuck.

So you want to visit Indonesia ? See here first?

A lot of people come to Indonesia. A lot of innocent tourist who end up duped by greedy locals her efrom anything from a simple taxi ride to a hotel stay to shopping issues.

drop me a mail before you come here, i will give you an accurate and affordable detail on what to do where to go, where to stay, how to deal with things so you don't end up paying more than what the locals do. yes i do take a fee ( nothing comes for free ) but I only take $ 10 per person or $ 20 per family ( maximum 4 members ) and you probably will save in excess of $ 400 - $ 700 in unecessary expenditure.

    shuold i go to tokyo?

    shuold i go to tokyo?
Absolutely - Tokyo is one of the most fascinating, insane places on the planet. Crazy futuristic techno weirdness crossed with the zen / shinto tradition and some mighty fine food too.
    shuold i go to tokyo?
If you want to do something different!
If you want to do something different!
Maybe the question is WHY? I live near Tokyo. Do you want to party in Roppongi with a million other foreignors? Do you want to spend outrageous money on a hotel? Do you want to check out the state of the art electronics? Do you want to see temples and Japanese tradition?

It isn't all in Tokyo. You could go to Kyoto and see beautiful temples then jump over to Osaka and see the electronics and even go to Universal Studios.

If you have a lot of money and want to get a cool experience, go for it. If you want to stay for an extended holiday, you can easily get a job teaching English. About a billion foreignors do this all the time! Get paid and see Japan.
absolutely. gotta go see tokyo to round out your world view. but I agree with the above post. why are you asking? depending on what you want to do, you'll be able to find it.

Should the PNP stop backing Arroyo?

THE National Police on Tuesday said it would be deploying at least 5,000 policemen throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) on May 1 to thwart any move to overthrow the Arroyo government.

PNP spokesman Samuel Pagdilao, at the same time, announced the reactivation of the PNP's Task Force Manila Shield to guard any untoward incidents coinciding with Labor Day, which is traditionally met with protest rallies.
Should the PNP stop backing Arroyo?
why should PNP stop? its task is to protect the president and the people.?!?! if they would stop it would result to a coup de etat or even treason

Your police is only doing its duty, safeguarding your head of state. Only time it will do wrong is when it is protecting her when she is no longer your head of state. Dude, you have to know your proper rights to argue.

If your son's name pronounced like: Ro-ree James Flin
then the Thai script would be:

    ???? ????? ????

I hope the script shown right, it's kinda small..

Although, you might want a second "N" with a ga-ran (silence marker) over it when spelling "Flynn."

hevent been yet going in June but reading what these people have written is making me really hungry and cant wait to be their and try it all out
Pho,Cha Gio,Banh Uoc,Bahn Hoi,Banh Beo,Buon Cha Gio,and another food that i don't know how to spell, but i think that it's spelt Banh yay. there's so much more foods to list but in general..i think these are really good foods that are great to eat.
I love bun bo hue, but pho is my second favorite.and then there's the shrimp spring rolls.everything's good really.

    tell me about semporna, sabah?
Why Semporna? Ok, Semporna is located at the east coast of Sabah. People only go to Semporna because of Scuba Diving (Sipadan Island), Seafood is good and cheap, people are friendly. Not much entertainment around but few local bars are available in town. Dont expect 5 STAR hotels, few budget one can be found in town. AS mentioned, normally people go to Semporna as is a transit point to Sipadan Island

    tell me about semporna, sabah?
There is actually nothing much in Semporna. There is only one hotel, there is no entertainment as far as i know, they are famous for their seafood, but to my experience the town is quite dirty.
But the good side is, only from Semporna can you get to the world famous diving sites in Sabah which is Mabul and Sipadan islands.

THE National Police on Tuesday said it would be deploying at least 5,000 policemen throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) on May 1 to thwart any move to overthrow the Arroyo government.

There is not information about Nyepi Day in Bali on March 30, 2006 ; Very important to avoid disappointment?
Nyepi day is one of Hindu's ritual. on that day you may not go anywhere, and on that day there will be no light, no fire, no noise, because on that day the Hindu's will pray all day to God. If you are in Bali on Nyepi day you can take a rest in your hotel the whole day. It's fun to understand other people culture and religion

The travel distance from Detroit Metro Airport to Tokyo Japan?

Have fun!
