Should the PNP stop backing Arroyo?

THE National Police on Tuesday said it would be deploying at least 5,000 policemen throughout the National Capital Region (NCR) on May 1 to thwart any move to overthrow the Arroyo government.

PNP spokesman Samuel Pagdilao, at the same time, announced the reactivation of the PNP's Task Force Manila Shield to guard any untoward incidents coinciding with Labor Day, which is traditionally met with protest rallies.
Should the PNP stop backing Arroyo?
why should PNP stop? its task is to protect the president and the people.?!?! if they would stop it would result to a coup de etat or even treason
